As a writer, editor, and journalist, I seek out untold stories, colorful characters, and any assignment that gets me out of an office and into the field. I have written and produced radio pieces about undocumented sex workers, medical marijuana, racial inequality in public schools, Portland, Oregon's food cart scene, young veterans returning to civilian life, a midnight muralist, and a makeup artist for drag queens and zombies. (Read more of my work here.) Currently, I am working on a book about a movement by Native American tribes to protect their ancestral lands in southeast Utah. Voices from Bears Ears will be released on October 30, 2018 by the University of Arizona Press. Learn more at BearsEarsCountry.com.
I make my home in Portland, Oregon with my husband, newborn daughter, and two rambunctious kittens. On any given weekend you can find me hiking in the Columbia River Gorge, making a (tasty) mess in the kitchen, reading voraciously, and/or planning my next trip to a faraway land (next stop: Iceland). Got a story tip for me? Get in touch.
